Sport Fishing

Sport fishing in the Atchafalaya. The statics show an annual sport fishing effort of 482,548 man-days of boat fishing and 149,365 man-days of bank fishing measured between1971 and 1974. Sport fishing can bring in a catch which may include yellow bass, striped bass, largemouth bass, white crappie, black crappie, warmouth, bluegill, and redear sunfish. Over 100 species of finfishes and commercially important shellfishes have been collected from the diverse aquatic habitats in the Atchafalaya Basin.
