Canoeing with Wildflowers

Canoeing in a field of wildflowers. When the water comes up in the spring, it covers many plants which have grown during the past low water season. This flooding and dewatering makes the Atchafalaya three and a half times more productive in fish and wildlife than even the Everglades. The yellow flowers are Yellow Top (Senecio glabellus).
