Levee Protection of Floodway

The end of the east protection levee of the Atchafalaya floodway. The photo shows flood waters coming around the end of the levee and heading back to the north. This allows for the nourishment of the Terrebonne Parish wetlands. Environmental interest would like more of the rich waters of the Atchafalaya to be able to flow into the coastal wetlands. This would slow the process of coastal erosion and help the Gulf fisheries.
