Black-crowned Night-Heron
The black-crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) is a nocturnal feeder as the name suggests. The scientific name, Nycticorax, means "night raven" and refers to the croaking, raven like call the bird makes. In the night, in the Atchafalaya the sounds of the swamp can give one a funny feeling.
